Step 4: Sharing Screencasts with your Students
There are four ways I have been able to share screencasts. Below you will find information on how to share them. For this part, you will most likely have to practice saving your screencasts and trying to share them in different ways to decide which way you like the best.
Directions: Read about each way you are able to share screencasts with others. Keep in mind, you will have to do this in the next step.
Option 1: BCPS OneSome videos can be shared once you save the file and upload it as a file on BCPS One. An issue that has occured though when trying to do this is based upon the length of your video. BCPS One will not let you upload big files, so this option may not work if your video is longer than 1-2 minutes. For this option, you would save your screencast from the Screencast-O-Matic website as a file.

Option 2: Open the FileAnother option you can choose to do is to upload the file and save it on the Student Drive. If students know how to navigate through the Student Drive, this option may work best! If not, they might need some support navigating through all of the folders to find the file. One thing to think about- kids are able to move files on the Student Drive, so this could be an issue if a student moves the file (on purpose or by accident). For this option, you would save your screencast from the Screencast-O-Matic website as a file.

Option 3: YouTubeThis is the option I use most often when sharing screencasts in my grad class or with other adults. Creating a YouTube account is free and easy to use. This option would work best if you wanted to share a screencast as a whole group for an activity. A negative to using YouTube to upload your screencasts is that students are usually blocked from accessing YouTube and some [inappropriate] ads may pop up. For this option, you would upload your screencast from the Screencast-O-Matic website right to YouTube account. You can also save it as a file first, then upload it to YouTube at a later time.

Option 4: TeacherTubeLastly, uploading your screencast to TeacherTube is probably the best way to share files with your students. Signing up for a TeacherTube account is just like YouTube- free and easy to use. Students are able to access TeacherTube if you link this through BCPS One and there is not a file size constraint when uploading your video file. For this option, you would save your screencast from the Screencast-O-Matic website as a file, and then upload the file onto TeacherTube.
